Concrete Walkways and Sidewalks in Crestwood, IL

Heaved, sunken and broken panels swapped for level concrete that meets the neighboring sections flush.

Level Is the Whole Point

We have been replacing walks around Crestwood since 2017, and the story behind a bad sidewalk is almost always the same. Clay soil swells in wet springs and heaves when it freezes. Tree roots creep under thin slabs. A panel lifts an inch at one edge, and suddenly the path to your front door has a trip hazard on it. Our honest first step is to figure out how much actually needs replacing. Sometimes it is the whole walk; often it is a few panels. Either way, we remove the bad sections, find what pushed them up and deal with it: roots trimmed back where that is safe for the tree, soft soil dug out, a stone base packed in its place. New panels are formed to meet the neighboring concrete at exactly the same height, so there is no step where old meets new. We pour about 4 inches for a typical walk, more where a mower or cart will roll across, and give it a slight side slope so rain drains into the lawn. Control joints are tooled so any future cracks run along a line, and a broom finish gives shoes grip on wet or icy mornings.

What Walk Repair and Replacement Covers

Whether it is three panels or the full run, these steps apply.

  • An honest assessment

We show you which panels truly need replacing and which can stay.

  • Bad panels removed

Lifted, sunken and broken sections cut out and hauled away.

  • Cause addressed

Roots, soft soil or poor drainage handled so the heave does not return.

  • Stone base packed

A firm, even bed under every new panel.

  • Flush tie-in

New concrete set level with the sections that remain.

  • Side slope and broom finish

Water sheds into the grass, and the surface grips underfoot.

  • Joints tooled in

Spaced so future movement follows a straight line.

How We Level a Walk

  1. Inspect and advise

We walk the path, mark the panels that need to go and explain why. The price comes in writing.

  2. Remove and correct

Bad sections out, the cause underneath fixed, stone packed and forms set flush.

  3. Pour and restore

Concrete placed, broomed and jointed, cured under cover, edges backfilled.

Why Crestwood Homeowners Call Us for Walks

  • We fix only what needs fixing

No upselling a full replacement when a few panels will do.

  • No step between old and new

New panels meet existing ones at the same height.

  • The cause gets handled

We deal with what lifted the walk, not just the symptom.

  • Panels set flush
  • Root and soil cause fixed
  • Slight side slope
  • Grip finish
